Migraines

Migraines are a common health condition, affecting 1 in 5 women, and 1 in 15 men.

    The most common symptoms are:

    • Severe headache
    • Unbearable pain, pressure in the head
    • Visual disturbance, light sensitive, pain behind the eye
    • Nausea and vomiting
    • Need to lie down
    • Linked with the menstrual cycle
    • Migraine during pregnamcy
    • Feeling exhausted the next day

It feels like your skull is about to explode, with an intense throbbing/pounding headache. All that pressure makes you feel sick, effects your eyesight, and you need to lie down in the dark. This is because, in Chinese Medicine terms, there is too much energy rising up into the head.

Acupuncture can help by smoothing out that excess energy, so there is relief from the symptoms. But that’s just half of the story. After a few weeks of treatment, in many cases, acupuncture can help prevent migraines from reoccurring. Patients say migraines are less frequent, much less intense, or have stopped completely. Some patients choose to have acupuncture treatment to prevent any more migraines and may book an appointment every eight weeks.
